What this is for.

The pictures are a minor part, they simply support the story.  In fact, I don’t even want the pictures to tell the story - the truth is that I only show them to prove the story is real, that these events happened.  No, not quite true.  If that were the case, I wouldn’t edit, crop, adjust them, I’d just resize and post.

No, I do take some pride in the pictures. I want them to be compelling on their own.  Not to outshine the written part, but if they stand on their own as ‘good’ to someone, then I can feel better about my near-absence of artistic merit.  So this is where I’m going to put my little experiments - and they are little.  I don’t even use photoshop, I simply adjust the colors a little in my image viewer.  Crop, shrink, tweak, tag, post.

I like some flash photography, but not much.  I like it when it’s done like a surprise in the dark - high contrast, harsh, revealing.  I rarely pull that off with my crappy kodak.  I take most pictures without a flash, and with the blur, the dark, the smudge, I get a feeling of the best parts of being a voyeur.  I enjoy watching people fuck in low light, I like the hints in shadows, and the glimpse of the explicit.  Also, I feel like the flash is intrusive when I am shooting a real scene, a real fuck.

The fuck comes first, the picture is second, but a close second.
